Novi Novak - Hibernation's Over Mixtape Review

Sometimes you have to listen to a mixtape just based on the cover alone and this was one of those times. I have no idea what the name Novi Novak means but hopefully I will find out by giving the mixtape a spin. Time to come out of hibernation. Hopefully the 16 are as clever as the cover. The Novi Novak - Hibernation's Over mixtape is pretty average. The lyrics and production are pretty standard. At times there are some pretty good lines over tight beats but for the most part this sounds like a poor version of a lot of whats already out there. With some better hooks and overall song concepts the mixtape could be improved on. It's not good when your best song is a Black & Yellow cover. Who does sound bad over that beat? I mean Tom Hanks kid Chaz even killed that track. If I had to go with 2 songs from this I would most likely grab.

DJ Mars, DJ Doc & DJ Trauma Present Anthony David - The Sound Of Love Mixtape Review

When I saw this mixtape I was hoping 3 times the charm because with this many DJ's for one artist it better be good. Represented by this site http://bamalovesoul.com/ and just based on the content it looks like these guys are working hard which usually means good things. I wished they would have worked a little harder on the cover because as far as mixtapes go its WEAK. Hopefully the 24 tracks provided are not sorry and or I do not follow asleep from listening so much to an unknown artists. Time for these superears to strap on the headphones. DJ Mars, DJ Doc & DJ Trauma Present Anthony David - The Sound Of Love mixtape is very soulfull and jazzy. Its got a laid back love hip hop vibe with a kina street musician vibe. I think with 3 DJ's working on it the production might have been a little better. The singing is okay but pretty standard. Sadly this Album just lacks something special and there are no real standouts or highlights to speak of other then some of the live music. The best part of the album seemed to be a cool shout out from Obama and an unplugged cover song. Sigh.

Chip Tha Ripper - Gift Raps Mixtape Review

One mixtape that is quickly making the circuit is a new joint from Southern stylist Chip Tha Ripper. I was hoping this mixtape would be a gift after seeing the cover. Cover is very clever and eye appealing. True Santa Clause. 13 songs and no features so I could not wait to open up these download presents. For the most part this mixtape is way too simple and mediocre. Chip Tha Ripper - Gift Raps mixtape is nothing to really get excited about. The raps and beats try to sound futuristic yet they sound like they from the 80's and sound pretty average. There are barley any connections or concepts on the album as well, which does not help its cause either. This is one of the first mixtapes where I am probably not even keeping a song but if I was forced it would maybe be.....

Mic Supreme - In My Own World Mixtape Review

I read this quote online and was a little worried, “a-mafia put out 'in my own world' before this guy... shit's WEAK son”. I'm in my own world however so lets give it a wirl. Cover was cool but the title connection was little weak. 16 songs on the list so it was going to be an adventure. Jae Pryce probably saves this mixtape cuz da raps are meh (the mixtapez trapez net beat maker right here). Mic Supreme - In My Own World mixtape raps needs work. The switch from Jamaican to Bronxtarian is kinda annoying. No real features so props to that. I can't hate. I put a few of these jams on the I-pad The 4 songs I liked the most were:

Prince Rich - Stuck On A Island Mixtape Review

Sometimes I feel like I am stuck on an island so this mixtape seemed like a sure listen. Plus I wish I had that Louis Vouton Luggage. A+ cover and now back to the island tunes. 18 tracks and stranded lets roll. Production is legit (big up to PR Productions). The Prince Rich - Stuck On A Island mixtape certainly has some highlights. Some of the hooks had me nodding for hours No featured artists but homie is married to the F and N words. Hooks are better then flows but its not really a bad thing. So many songs and no features is pretty impressive in its own right. This is something to sip some southern sauce too at least a few times. The two songs I liked the most were:

Well I have always wanted to splurgge on them so I thought I would give this mixtape a try. Cover is about as average as a McDonald's hamburger. 15 songs so I am hoping they were working on music instead of the cover. Have not heard too much of the DJ's before so the DJ Grady & DJ Genius Present Rich Kid Shawty - Splurge On Em mixtape was gonna be a new experience. Pretty hard mixtape if you ask me but no super bangers. If TI is on something you know it has to be decent (although T.I. was whatever – Travis Porter and Young Dro are rolling as well). PS to the DJ's, too much “DJ” sht. The 2 songs I liked the most were:

Okay first mixtape cover tip. No open shirts allowed unless female or a paid male model (and even then this is questionable). Mixtape cover weak (I quit Valentine's just because of it). 9 Song list, okay here we go (hey it's my job I had too). If I had to describe the DJ Spin King & Donnie Klang - Valentine's Day Mixtape I would say clubby with a mix Backstreet Boys and R$B whatever. Sound quality proper with the love stuff done meh (hint the best song just might be a cover ugh). This mixtape could use a grimy artist rap feature (Devin the Dude give Donnie a call he needs help). The 2 songs I liked the most were:

Donnie Klang - Sweettooth

and

Donnie Klang - No BS

This would would probably not impress too many girls. Especially not with Raheem Devaughn and Bobby V. spinning.

Fashawn - Higher Learning 2 (Hosted by DJ ill Will & DJ Rockstar)

Anything by DJ ill Will and Dj Rockstar is going to be much anticipated. Mixtape cover was already winning points as well with Bart Simpson all up in the mix I was anxious to hear this one.. At first glance there is nice play list totaling 22 songs. As usual these DJ's make sure the production is silky and the Fashawn - Higher Learning 2 (Hosted by DJ ill Will & DJ Rockstar) mixtape delivers in studio quality. There are not many names on this album with the best being productions from J. Cole (Common & John Legend also appear briefly and weakly). This mixtape could lose the skits an interludes and cut a few of the lower quality songs out. The 3 songs I liked the most were:

and

Fashawn - Eastside Party (Prod by Hecktik)

and

Fashawn - Higher (Remix)

For sure a few of these jams get more spins.

For the mixtape cover Willie The Kid gets big ups. Very professional, great pictures and catchy titles which are 3 characteristics always pleasant to see in a mixtape cover. I was excited to hear this mixtape as it seemed to be getting pretty good reviews on line. At first glance of the song lengths (all extremely short) I personally did not expect much. Well the good news about the Willie The Kid - The Fly 2 (The Transformation) mixtape is that the production is pretty tonight and the beats are okay. There are not many feature artists on the record with the 2 most notable being Styles P. and Cory Gunz. Both their parts are nothing to write back to the iPod about. The two songs I liked the most were:

and

Willie The Kid - Al B Sure Dart

All in all average and left me ready to move on.
